Emberveil covers the entire map in parchment and clears it only where you have actually stood. Walk a street once and it stays uncovered for good — a record of everywhere you have really been, drawn by your own feet.

How it works
Three things, and you only have to do the first one.
OneGo outside
Emberveil follows your position while you walk, cycle or drive — with the phone in your pocket and the screen off. You do not have to open it, or remember to start anything.
TwoThe veil lifts behind you
A clearing opens around you as you move, and it never closes again. Come back in a year and the street is still yours. Nothing expires, and nothing resets.
ThreeYour past counts too
The photos already in your library remember where they were taken. Let Emberveil read them and years of travel appear on the map at once, before you have taken a single step.
What the map gives back
A blank map is only interesting once it starts filling in.
- Places worth finding
- Landmarks in the city you are standing in, waiting to be found. Get close enough and one is yours.
- The figures behind it
- Distance travelled, ground uncovered, countries and continents reached, and the furthest point you have ever been from home.
- Your own city, finished
- A ring shows how much of the city around you that you have genuinely seen. Most people are surprised by how small the number is.
- A backup that is yours
- Export the whole map to a single file you keep. New phone, restored map — no account needed, because there is no account.
No account.
No server.
No analytics.
Everywhere you have been is the most sensitive thing a phone knows about you, so Emberveil does not collect it. The map you uncover is written to a database on your own device and stays there. We cannot look at it, sell it, or hand it over, because there is nowhere for it to go.
There is no sign-up, no email address collected, no advertising identifier, and no usage tracking of any kind.
